On 2 December 2004, HP and Veritas jointly announced to the world a collaboration to accelerate progress towards server virtualisation.
Under a multi-year agreement between the two companies, HP plans to OEM select VERITAS Storage Foundation™ products in order to extend the industry-leading virtualization and high availability of HP-UX 11i and HP Serviceguard software and further ease customer evolution to standards-based HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers.
This does require a server roadmap change, the first since HP and Compaq came together, and signals HP's intent to drive forward its HP Integrity and UNIX strategy with greater momentum. Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster support on AlphaServer will not be affected by this announcement. TruCluster similar capabilities will be available on HP-UX but provided in a differing way.
