HP StorageWorks launches new DAT USB and Ultrium tape drives
HP has announced probably the most significant technology development since the initial launch of Ultrium Gen-1: two brand new USB DAT drives. The first universally plug-and-play tape drive in the market. With no need for SCSI controllers or host bus adaptors, just load the drivers, plug the drive into the system and away you go! All with exactly the same performance as the existing SCSI drives.
New HP StorageWorks DAT 40 USB Tape Drive
 A dependable entry-level backup solution for smaller servers and workstations. This DDS -4 tape drive stores 40 GB of compressed data on a single cartridge at a rate of 23GB/hr (assuming 2:1 data compression), providing an ideal balance between capacity and performance.
New HP StorageWorks DAT 72 USB Tape Drive
 Provides an optimum balance of dependable backup capacity and low cost of ownership for small and medium businesses, remote offices, and workgroups. The DAT 72 delivers a capacity of 72 GB on a single data cartridge and a transfer rate of 23GB/hr (assuming a 2:1 compression ratio). The native USB 2.0 interface provides universal plug-and-play connectivity and quick setup.
New HP StorageWorks Ultrium 232 Tape Drive
 The newest LTO1 drive on the market and the fastest in our portfolio. This affordable superdrive delivers enterprise-class backup capacity, performance, and reliability at a midrange price. With a compressed capacity of 200 GB per data cartridge and a compressed data transfer rate of 115 GB per hour, this LTO1 drive is read and write-compatible with all first-generation Ultrium Tape Drives and media, and its media can be read by any LTO1, 2, or 3 drive from any manufacturer.
